Alexander Gerasimov

For me, the decisive point to become an artist was the fact that the painter does not have to get up early in the morning to go to work; he has whole lot of money just twiddling his thumbs; he relaxes throughout the whole year in residences... And then, easily accessible naked women are always beside him. Over the years, I realised that it is not so. But it was too late to change something.
Bio

A strictness of composition and a confident design pattern feature Alexander Gerasimov’s works. In his paintings, smooth picturesque surface sits alongside with accentuated texture.

Alexander Gerasimov was born in 1955 in Riga and studied at the The Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts in the class of design.
Since 1978, he lived and worked in Leningrad – St. Petersburg. Gerasimov is a member of the Russian Artists’ Union and a member of the Academy of Contemporary Art in St. Petersburg. He also participated in more than 300 exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
